How to be a villain

Subtitles on any movie format. If the subs found by plex for your media do not work as well as you want them to you can download alternate subs from a couple of different places. I prefer SubScene.com or opensubtitles.org but OpenSubtitles is my go to if I don’t find them at SubScene.com.

  1. Get the movie in the format and size you want – dont rename it. This may be ill-advised in the long term but most subtitles are available customized to the specific file you you want to watch…
    For Example: The.Matrix.Resurrections.2021.1080p.WEBRip.x264-YIFY.mp4
  2. Find the matching file listed on subscene or something close to it. Often the files and subtitles are the same with different villains renaming them to try to glean a little glory by having their names on it… BTW make sure you set your language filter to “English” on subscene.com before you search…
    https://subscene.com/
    https://www.opensubtitles.org/
  3. Once its downloaded and unzipped (Subtitles are usually in a zip file) rename it so its EXACTLY the same as the media file except for the extension. There are other kinds but the type most used is .srt. Examples below…
    The.Matrix.Resurrections.2021.1080p.WEBRip.x264-YIFY.mp4
    The.Matrix.Resurrections.2021.1080p.WEBRip.x264-YIFY.srt
  4. Now at this point, since there are 2 files for making the media play with subs I would create a folder for the media – again with the same name. The reason for using the same name should be obvious from an organization standpoint but it is also helpful when you want to compare versions origins, formats or sizes.
